Description

PA12 (Polyamide 12), also known as nylon 12, is a semi-crystalline to crystalline thermoplastic material made from butadiene. It is a member of the polyamide family and possesses low moisture absorption, excellent electrical insulation properties, impact resistance, and chemical stability. However, it has limited resistance to strong oxidizing acids. This material has a shrinkage rate of 0.5%–2% and good flowability, making it widely used in applications such as water meters, cable jackets, mechanical cams, sliding components, and photovoltaic backsheets.

 

Product Application

High viscosity PA12 is suitable for scenarios where high mechanical properties are required (such as gears, bearings), and low viscosity PA12 is more suitable for thin-walled or rapidly formed products (such as pipes, cable sleeves)

PA12 is mainly used in automotive pipelines, wires and cables, 3D printing, industrial powder coating, etc.

First Domestically Produced

Through independent research and development, Wanhua Chemical successfully commissioned a 40,000-ton-per-year nylon 12 production facility in October 2022, becoming the first company in Asia and the second in the world to master the full production chain technology for PA12. This achievement broke the half-century-long technological monopoly held by Swiss EMS, French Arkema, Japanese Ube Industries, and German Evonik.
